home>>gba log
Despite owning one I never used it much. Over the years I've some games but never actually tried to explore the library or discover something cool.
The games that I played before starting this:
Not a lot, and nothing particularly obscure.
Focusing on one platform it's also a good way of avoiding choice paralisis. You know, what usually happens after you spend hours setting up your emulators and roms.
So the goal here is to actually play some new games and learn a bit more about the GBA. After five games I'll write some thoughts about things so far.
I was not familiar with post Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot. This is ok. It's an alright platformer. Controls well and looks good but it's very short. It does have the usual time trial and hidden gems and crystals stuff.
It also has the running towards the camera levels which... I get it, it's a Crash Bandicoot game. But also you shouldn't have. Those levels were never good on any Crash game.
So it's not as good as the three Naughty Dog games but it's not bad.
This is has all the cool platforming and terrible shooting one would expect from a Tomb Raider game, but from a top down perspective.
It's not a very good game but it succeeds in being an interesting adaptation of Tomb Raider to the platform. It's very short and doesn't have any secrets or collectibles.
It's not a completely bad game. I just wish it had a little bit more stuff to do.
Pretty cool version of the game.
Liked the variety of attacks available and how easy they are to perform. The back elbow went from the most powerful move in video game to an alright attack, though.
It also can't be a Double Dragon game without annoying platforming sections. But they're not too bad here.
It's a bit unfair at times and it's easy to lose a lot of lives on some sections but it's a cool game overall.
